Alfa Laval LKHex Application
The Alfa Laval LKHex pump is designed for use in potentially explosive environments and conforms to the ATEX directive. It is available in 10 sizes and can handle capacities up to 250 m3/h and differential pressures up to 11 bar at 50 Hz. The pump offers energy efficiency, reducing energy consumption and CO2 footprint. It is hygienic, with verified effective CIP cleanability. The pump’s robust mechanical design and modular front-loading seals make maintenance easy and reduce costs.
The pump is designed with media contacting steel components, including the pump casing, impeller, impeller nut, and backplate, and is supported by a stainless steel shroud and four adjustable stainless steel legs. The pump’s semi-open impeller with a special vane design ensures efficient and gentle product handling. The pump comes with a single mechanical shaft seal, but it can be doubled for faster, easier, and cheaper maintenance. The balanced design minimizes the risk of seal opening during pressure shock.

The LKH centrifugal pumps are available in 13 sizes, with options for shaft seals, flushing arrangements, and elastomers. The LKHex is designed for explosive environments and conforms to ATEX directive 94/9/EC Group II, Categories 2 and 3. The semi-open impeller with a special vane design ensures low NPSHr, preventing cavitation and minimizing mechanical damage. Balance holes in the impeller enhance circulation around the shaft seal, reducing axial forces and minimizing wear on the shaft seal and motor bearings.
The front-loading shaft seal, with spring and washers mounted on the atmospheric side, makes maintenance fast, easy, and inexpensive. It also minimizes the risk of seal opening during pressure shock. The LKH single shaft seal fits 11 models of LKH pumps and all models of the SolidC pump, and can be interchanged in minutes with just a few extra components.
The compression coupling securely attaches the stub shaft to the motor shaft, minimizing noise and vibration and prolonging the service life of both shaft seal and motor.
