Application Engineer

Job purpose

The Application Engineer responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the other departments as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Application Engineer must be able to generate well designed drawings using CAD software for project/production.

Duties and responsibilities

• Read and interpret customer technical specification
• Collaborate with sales team members to prepare quotation and proposal
• Provide guidance and support to sales team members on quotations, proposals, pump specification and compiling data sheet
• Support in sales activities in product application and winning the project is critical
• Create or modify pump design to meet customer requirements
• Utilize pump-specific formula to predict pump performance
• Ensure accuracy in drawing dimensions based on real-scale products/models
• Enhance the design of the modification of the product/model following customer’s technical requirement and specification
• Consult our principals and suppliers in manufacturing of design
• Support after sales activities like testing and commissioning activities to customer where necessary on the project
• Assist and investigate technical issues either through remote support or in-site support
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities across all departments
• Provide timely update and report to Management on on-going project
• Perform other ad-hoc task as assigned

Qualifications

• Possess a Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related engineering field
• At least 1 years working with pump selections (Software or Manual) or heat exchanger selection (Software) – Fresh Graduates are welcomed to apply
• Knowledgeable in various types of pumps such as Vacuum Pump, Oil Pump, Centrifugal Pump, Air Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) Pump, Valves and Heat Exchanger will be a valued advantage.
• Heat Exchanger technical knowledge would be advantage
• Familiar with CAD software (For drawing purposes)
• Good command of English in writing, speaking and reading
• Willing to work hard to complete urgent project and project clarification pre-order(s) or post-order(s)

Working conditions

The Application Engineer will be expected to work at ABS Engineering & Trading Sdn Bhd which is located in Lot 59, Tanjung Medan 26/12, Hicom B Sector, Section 26, Shah Alam, Selangor or No. 17, Lrg Perda Utama 7, Bandar Perda, 14000, Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Pulau Pinang.

Working hour will be from 8.00 am until 5.30 pm.

He/She will be advised by the manager on the need to work overtime when necessary.

Relocation and travelling needs will be advised by the Department Manager or General Manager
when necessary.
