Operating Principle
The Alfa Laval SS Two Step Valve is pneumatically operated via compressed air, typically controlled remotely for convenience. Smooth actuator operation provides precise control, while the valve’s intermediate positioning capability reduces pressure shocks during filling or dosing processes. Using an Alfa Laval ThinkTop control unit enhances operational precision, ensuring accurate and safe process control.
For standard applications, the valve includes two working ports for air supply. In changeover applications, a third port is added to manage process air effectively.
The Unique SSV Two Step Valve is available in both one-body and two-body configurations, designed for simple integration into existing systems. The valve body, plug, actuator, and clamp rings are easily configurable to specific applications. It functions efficiently as a shut-off valve with two or three working ports, or as a changeover valve with up to five ports, enabling simultaneous drainage or filling operations.
Valve seats, positioned between two bodies in the changeover configuration, ensure a tight, reliable seal. All valve seals are precisely engineered to ensure longevity and robust performance under repeated operation. Actuators connect to valve bodies via robust clamp rings, and intermediate valve opening can be precisely adjusted using internal spacer rings.
